The pattern for the blocks are as follows:

Using a 5.50 mm hook and DK yarn
I used 400g of white and 400g of dark pink, 300g of light pink.

7 hdc and 5 rows = 2 inches

Each block without border should measure 10.5 x 12 inches
Each block with border should measure 11.5 x 13 inches.

Make 6 white, 6 dark pink.

Row 1: Ch 36, hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and across. (35 hdc)

Row 2-30: Ch 2, turn. Hdc across. (35 hdc)

Ch 1, turn. 3 sc into the corner, sc in next 33 st, 3 sc into the corner, place 36 sc evenly down the side of the block, 3 sc into the corner, sc in next 33, 3 sc into the corner, 36 sc evenly back up the side. Join to first sc with a sl st. Finish off and weave in ends.

Granny Square Border For Each Block.

Join yarn in a corner space, Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into the first corner. *{ch 1, skip 2 stitches, 3 dc into next st} repeat until corner. 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into corner space* Repeat around block. Join to first dc with a sl st and finish off.

Finish off, weave in ends as you go

Joining blocks together:

There are many ways to join blocks together but for this blanket I wanted it to look girly and have a slightly open look about it so I searched for the best tutorial and found this

Border for entire blanket:

Using the same granny square pattern as the border for the blocks but going into each ch sp (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into each corner. 3 dc, ch 1 in each ch space. I did 3 more rounds of light pink, 1 round of white, 1 round of dark pink. For the last round I did a double v stitch. A great tutorial for this can be found here:

  1. I love that idea! Are you going to make more appliques for the Fairy blanket? and if so, about how many? I want to start making one soon. I have to come up with an idea as to how I'm going to do it though. That's why I'm asking.

    1. Ohhhh, I see where you put the other Fairy's! Are you thinking of other things also? Gina

    2. Hi Gina,

There will be 12 appliques in total, still 4 Fairies to come. This will be my 5th set of appliques. I am doing it similar to my Little Blossom's Blanket. If you look in the right column you will see the link to it.

  2. I don't mean to be anonymous, I just don't know which other one to name is Gina
